This installment covers what was ranking during the week of September 14, 2026. We’re checking whether the top sellers are actually your best deal, or whether the same (or equivalent) item is cheaper somewhere else.

- Amazon price (confirmed): $9.97, unchanged since we first checked this item, even as its rank moved between #1, #7, and now #4.
- Walmart price: the same Kitsure 3-tier design shows up across several listings ranging from $11.79 to $29.99 depending on color/variant.
- Verdict: Amazon wins here. At $9.97, Amazon undercuts Walmart’s lowest listed price ($11.79) for the same item, a good reminder that checking elsewhere doesn’t always mean elsewhere is cheaper.
#2: Amazon Basics Slim Velvet Non-Slip Suit Clothes Hangers, 50-Pack
- Amazon price: $18.89, down from $20.99 when we first checked this item days earlier. Prices on this exact listing already moved once, so treat any single price as a snapshot, not a guarantee.
- Walmart price: the closest match we found is Walmart’s own Basics Slim, Velvet, Non-Slip Suit Clothes Hangers, Gray/Silver, Pack of 50, at $25.99. The near-identical name suggests this may be a comparable private-label version rather than a confirmed identical product.
- Verdict: Amazon appears cheaper, but since we cannot confirm it is the exact same manufacturer, treat this as a strong lead rather than a guaranteed match.
#8: Lifewit 80L Large Laundry Baskets, 2-Pack, Grey
- Amazon price (confirmed): $11.98
- Walmart price (confirmed, identical product): $34.38, Lifewit 80L Large Laundry Baskets, 2 Pack, Reinforced Handles, Grey, same brand and model.
- Verdict: Amazon wins decisively. This is a genuine apples-to-apples match, and the gap is dramatic, nearly $22 cheaper on Amazon for the identical item. If you are setting up laundry storage for a small apartment, this is the one to check before you buy anywhere else.
Open Questions
- Whether the Walmart hanger listing is truly the same manufacturer as the Amazon Basics version, or just a similarly-named private-label alternative.
- Shipping cost and delivery time on both sides, a lower sticker price can be offset by shipping fees or a longer wait.
- Whether to revisit the tumbler and drinkware items (Owala, Stanley) that also appeared on this week’s list, possibly as a separate post.
How We Check These Amazon Best Sellers
Each week we pull Amazon’s live Best Sellers list for a category relevant to renters and small-space living, note the top items and their current prices, then search for the same or closest matching product on Walmart. We label a match as identical only when the brand and model number line up exactly, the way the Lifewit laundry baskets did this week. When we can only find a similar item from a different brand, we say so, because a lookalike product is not the same guarantee of quality or fit.
